Coming Soon To A Beach Near You: A Swimmable South Shore

Join us to celebrate the upcoming transformation of South Shore Beach!

Tuesday, September 24 | 6:00 – 8:00 PM
South Shore Pavilion (2900 S. Shore Dr., Milwaukee, WI 53207)

In 2019, after over 10 years of research, collaboration, and vital input from you we selected a final design for South Shore Beach that would help address water quality issues, reduce beach closures, and improve access to Lake Michigan. Now our ship (and grant funding!) has come in and we are ready to get boots on the ground. This unique project will see us “move a beach” – turning the current swimming area into greenspace, while converting the rocky beach to the south to our new swimming area.

Meet with the project team and partners for Q&A, get a refresher on how we got here, and find out what to expect during construction. You can also take a self-guided tour of the planned improvements along the shore, look over conceptual designs & posters, and learn about how the Waterway Restoration Partnership is working to make beaches more swimmable throughout the AOC. Hope to see you then!
