Join us to learn about the planned cleanup of the Milwaukee River Floodplains. Recent soil samples indicate the presence of contaminants on the east and west sides of the river between the former Estabrook Dam and the former North Avenue Dam. To ensure public health and safety there is a historic river cleanup effort underway.
Over the next decade, hundreds of millions of dollars will be spent right here, in Milwaukee County, to remove the contaminated soil and sediment as well as rebuild healthy native habitat! Officials from federal, state, and local units of government are working together to ensure public health and safety and determine next steps for the ongoing river cleanup efforts. Find out why the cleaning of Milwaukee’s waterways is important, what planning efforts are underway, the estimated timeline, and how to get involved.
