The Havenwoods State Forest rehabilitation project includes 237 acres of urban land located on the far north side of the City of Milwaukee. This project is part of a larger effort to return the land at Havenwoods State Forest to a natural state of southeastern Wisconsin native plant communities and a combination of open and forested landscapes.

The project will include prairie and wetland restoration, management and expansion of the forest landscape, and control of problematic plant species. Restoring rich and diverse plant communities at Havenwoods will provide a complementary mix of established native habitat types in Wisconsin’s only urban State Forest.
