New Video: Key Steps In Building The Dredged Material Management Facility
In September, we reached a major milestone on the Dredged Material Management Facility (DMMF) — the final wall is now in place, officially closing in the site! But we’re not done yet. Construction will continue through 2026 as we complete the interior systems and prepare the facility for long-term operation.
To give you a behind-the-scenes look at how this massive project is coming together, we’ve released a new video walking through the key steps in building the DMMF. Watch the progress so far.
Most of the contaminated sediment from Milwaukee’s rivers is planned to be safely stored in this facility. A DMMF is specially engineered to contain dredged material and prevent contaminated sediment from entering the environment, playing a critical role in restoring the Milwaukee Estuary.
