Take a Peek at the New Dredged Material Management Facility…where Milwaukee’s Contaminated Sediment Will Spend Eternity!
The sediment at the bottom of our waterways is contaminated with chemicals left behind from many years of industrial activity in the area. Though this contamination has been in our waterways for decades, if we do not remove it, many of the issues that define the Milwaukee Estuary as an Area of Concern will continue.
Join us for a walking tour on Thursday, October 29, to get a peek at the Dredged Material Management Facility (DMMF), learn more about the project, and see what’s been built. Tours depart every 20 minutes between 4:00 and 5:00 PM.
This is your once-in-a-lifetime chance to see the completed DMMF up close! Following this event, public access will not be available as dredging and river cleanup work gets underway. This is the only opportunity to step inside and see the facility up close.
- Tours depart every 20 minutes, with the last tour leaving at 5:00 PM.
