Wild & Wonderful Little Menomonee River Parkway Event

Join us on Saturday May 17th from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at Dretzka Park Chalet (12020 W Bradley Rd, Milwaukee, WI 53224) to learn about the wild and wonderful changes coming to the Little Menomonee River Parkway! You may have seen some big changes along the Little Menomonee River Parkway (or LMRP) in the past two years. Dense stands of invasive species have started to come down and for many, the river can be viewed for the first time in 30 years.

In 2019, after over 10 years of research, collaboration, and vital input from you we selected a final design for South Shore Beach that would help address water quality issues, reduce beach closures, and improve access to Lake Michigan. Now our ship (and grant funding!) has come in and we are ready to get boots on the ground.

Join us to learn about the planned project at Havenwoods State Forest to bring back healthy plant communities for wildlife and people. This project aims to improve native habitats and expand wetlands on the 237-acre property.

Milwaukee River Floodplains Open House

Join us to learn about the planned cleanup of the Milwaukee River Floodplains. Recent soil samples indicate the presence of contaminants on the east and west sides of the river between the former Estabrook Dam and the former North Avenue Dam. To ensure public health and safety there is a historic river cleanup effort underway.
